The Perfect Mile
Unfortunately, I read something coetlmpely unrelated to either the environment or sustainability. It was The Perfect Mile by Neal Bascomb that encapsulates the race across the globe in early 1950s to break the psychological four-minute barrier for running a mile. The race was between Wes Santee from Kansas, John Landy from Australia and Roger Bannister from England (who eventually did it first). Quite a captivating read.
